Waterproof Attributes Of The Sony Xperia V Put To The Tests

Newly released smart phone models now offer more impressive specifications than ever before. With the widespread availability of high end technology, more and more smart phone manufacturers are concentrate on making their new handsets as durable as possible. Phones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and Sony Xperia Z are officially certified as dust proof and waterproof, adding further appeal to their spec lists.

Perhaps the best known example of a waterproof smartphone is the Sony Xperia Z. It is one of the first waterproof smart phones which does not include a bulky rubber casing or additional materials on its chassis to gain its waterproof attributes. Like the Xperia Z, its Xperia V counterpart is IP55/IP57 compliant, meaning it can be submerged in one metre of water for up to 30 minutes without sustaining any damage. However Xperia Blog has recently reported that the device is far more durable than its certifications would suggest.

The website has reported on a recent news story from Taiwan. Apparently, the owner of a Sony Xperia V accidentally dropped his handset into the sea whilst capturing video footage. Obviously, he assumed that he would not seen the phone again, but luckily it was found four days later by snorkelers, who then contacted the owner and returned the phone.

Astonishingly, the Sony Xperia V was still in full working order. Furthermore, because it was capturing video footage when it fell into the sea, it captured 30 minutes of video from the bottom of the ocean, and the accompanying YouTube video shows impressively clear video and audio capture. Of course, this is an extreme case, and it was purely by chance that the phone was found. However, it certainly demonstrates that users should have confidence in the phone’s waterproof attributes, and is certainly great advertising for Sony’s range of water proof smartphones.
